The Atlanta Dream made the biggest splash move of the WNBA offseason by trading with the Chicago Sky to acquire superstar forward Angel Reese. Reese faced criticism during the preseason after struggling with her shooting efficiency and committing a high level of turnovers. However, Reese, who challenges Caitlin Clark, her rival, as the WNBA’s biggest draw, has silenced those doubters with her recent performances.
Over her last two games, both wins, Reese is averaging 16 points on 48% shooting and 9.5 rebounds. Sunday’s victory over the Phoenix Mercury included a clutch steal on the defensive end, further cementing Reese as one of the best two-way players in the game.

Reese’s strong showings have helped propel Atlanta to a 4-1 record, good for the best record in the WNBA.
For Clark’s part, she also faced heavy criticism early in the season due to her shooting struggles, especially from the three-point line. Clark, too, has turned things around, and her Indiana Fever are rounding into a fearsome team in their own right, but they’re still looking up at Atlanta with a record of 4-2.
Following a Friday night win over the Golden State Valkyries, Clark admitted that she’s still dealing with the mental hurdle of returning to the court after missing all but 13 games in 2025 due to soft tissue injuries.
“Coming back from injury and having however many soft tissue injuries [in 2025] is a real mental challenge,” Clark told reporters, via ESPN.

The first matchup between the WNBA’s biggest young stars comes on June 4 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis in a Commissioner’s Cup game. Clark and the Fever are lagging behind the Dream in standings as things stand, but there’s a chance the early June matchup gives Indiana a chance to take over the top spot in the standings.
