Chicago Bears 2026 Offseason Superlatives: Most Excited to Watch

by

This WCG roundtable series was inspired by this Tweet from our guy Jacob, who gave six 2026 Chicago Bears superlatives for the offseason. We’re going to take them one by one, and we’ll give a couple two tree sentences for each.

Yesterday we did the Bears’ best player, and today is the Bear we’re most excited to watch this season.

Jacob Infante: Caleb Williams took a big step in 2025, particularly in the second half of the year. His elite arm talent and creativity were complemented by improved poise and an unrivaled clutch gene. I can’t wait to see him continue to grow in Year 3.

Bryan Orenchuk: Caleb Williams – year two in Ben’s offense should be much more efficient, smooth and explosive. Cannot wait to see Caleb at the helm in 2026.

Sam Householder: Caleb Williams. He has continuity; he has one of the three best offensive minds in the league as his playcaller. He has great pieces around him. I’m excited to see what year two looks like.

Josh Sunderbruch: Dillon Thieneman – I always like watching the rookies.

Erik Duerrwaechter: Dillon Thieneman – The versatile rookie has a big chance to deliver a major impact right away as he fits Dennis Allen’s defense like a glove and brings real speed to a squad that badly needed it. Look for him to make splash plays from numerous spots on the field this season.

Ryan Droste: Luther Burden III – We saw him come on strong as a rookie in the second half of the season, and I think he will continue to make strides this year, perhaps becoming the Bears’ #1 WR by year’s end.

Donald Gooch: Colston Loveland – His rookie year was amazing at a position where players have traditionally taken a few years to realize their potential. Could Loveland be the #1 tight end in the NFL by the end of the season? I wouldn’t bet against him.

Lester A. Wiltfong Jr.: This is a three-way tie for me. Caleb plays the most important position in all of team sports, and the Bears having a good one is about as exciting as it gets. But Burden has the type of athleticism that doesn’t come around very often, and he’s a threat to score every time he touches the ball. And finally, I love tight end play, and Loveland has All-Pro upside.

Jeff Berckes: Ben Johnson – Imagine where things started last year, to where they’ll start this year. What will Johnson be able to do with the infrastructure built up to a higher starting point, returning skill players like Rome, Luther, and Colston ready to take off, not to mention Caleb’s development?! We have an offensive mastermind we are privileged to witness in the Windy City, and it’s just getting started.
