The Ohio State Buckeyes went 12-0 during the regular season in 2025. They lost to the Indiana Hoosiers in the BIG10 title game and lost to the Miami Hurricanes in the college football playoffs. Ohio State did end its four-game losing streak against the Michigan Wolverines, however. The Buckeyes have a lot to look forward to in 2026 despite a tough schedule.
A lot of star talent is back on the team like quarterback Julian Sayin, wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, and much more. Head coach Ryan Day runs one of the best football programs in the country. Ohio State plays also in the best conference in college football in the BIG10.

College Football Analysts Believe That the Ohio State Buckeyes are the Second-Best Team in the Nation
Sam Kahn Jr. and Austin Mock of the Athletic created there Top 25 rankings for the upcoming 2026 college football season. They both think that Ohio State is the second-best team in the country. Kahn and Mock said,
“Once again, the Buckeyes roster is loaded. Julian Sayin, Jeremiah Smith and Bo Jackson are supported by a big, experienced offensive line. The defense lost some major contributors to the NFL Draft, but the staff did well to restock the cupboard out of the portal, and there’s plenty of young rising talent ready to step in.”
One of the more interesting things to watch for this season will be the offensive coordinator role. Arthur Smith takes over as the offensive coordinator after Brian Hartline left the program to be the next head coach of the USF Bulls. Matt Patricia played a huge role in the Ohio State’s defense last season as the defensive coordinator. The Buckeyes do face Indiana, the Texas Longhorns, Michigan, and the Oregon Ducks this season. It will be interesting to see what Ohio State’s record will be after the 2026 NFL regular season.
