Local Standout Rainie Moran Verbals to Hometown Utah Utes for 2027
NEW COMMIT: The University of Utah has picked up a new verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from local standout and Utah native Rainie Moran of Salt Lake City. Moran is a Junior National qualifier.
She will join Ella Butcher, Riley Hollingsworth and Sophia Friestedt as a member of the Utes’ Class of 2031.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“After much consideration, I’m thrilled to announce my commitment to the University of Utah to further my academic and athletic career! Thank you to the University of Utah’s coaching staff for this amazing opportunity and thank you to my family, teammates, and coaches for all their support through this process and this sport! GO UTES!!”
Moran, who does her club swimming with Omega Aquatics, most recently finaled in four events at Four Corner Speedo Sectionals in March. She swept both IM events at Utah SCY Senior Championships in December. Last summer, she won the 200m IM at Utah LCM Senior Championships before going on to final in three events at Sacramento Futures.
Her best times include:
- 100 fly – 56.35
- 200 fly – 2:03.32
- 200 IM – 2:02.79
- 400 IM – 4:21.66
- 200 breast – 2:19.38
Currently a junior at Olympus High School, Moran is a seven-time Utah 5A state champion. She won the 200 IM, 500 free, 4×50 free relay and 4×100 free relay at the 2026 Utah 5A State Championships after winning the 500 free as a sophomore in 2025. Her freshman season in 2024 saw her claim the 500 free and 4×50 free relay titles.
Utah finished seventh at the 2026 Big 12 Championships.
