Where did MSU hoops land in BTN analyst’s recent Big Ten power rankings?

One Big Ten analyst is high on the Spartans entering next season but he doesn’t have them at the top of the league. At least not right now.

Andy Katz of the Big Ten Network released new offseason power rankings on Wednesday, with the Spartans coming in near the top of the conference. He had Michigan state listed at No. 3 out of the 18 teams that make up the Big Ten.

The only teams ahead of Michigan State were rival Michigan at No. 1 and Illinois at No. 2. Right behind the Spartans was USC at No. 4 and Purdue at No. 5.

Michigan State is considered a preseason top 10 team nationally across the many polls I’ve seen in the last few weeks. But, like Katz, many have both the Wolverines and Fighting Illini ahead of the Spartans. So this No. 3 ranking in Katz’s power rankings aligns with the national media’s opinion of Michigan State as well.
