Bo Nickal vs. Kyle Daukaus UFC Freedom 250 preview
Nickal (8-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) will look to stay in the win column after a knockout of Rodolfo Vieira at UFC 322 in November. Prior to that, he suffered the first loss of his career, a second-round finish against Reinier de Ridder.

Daukaus (17-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) is on his second UFC run, and has looked great since returning. So far, he has finished Michel Pereira and Gerald Meerschaert in the first round.
Bo Nickal vs. Kyle Daukaus UFC Freedom 250 expert pick, prediction
You just know that, no matter the event, Mick Maynard will always make sure that there is middleweight representation on the card. For UFC Freedom 250, the middleweights that are in question are Bo Nickal and Kyle Daukaus.
Although this appears to be a smash spot for Nickal to most at first glance, I warn anyone counting out Daukaus’ skills and experience.

Don’t get me wrong: I was really impressed with Nickal’s improvements in his bounce-back win over Rodolfo Vieira, but the Penn State alum will have a harder time pulling off that patented southpaw double-attack in a closed-stance affair.
In fact, the southpaw vs. southpaw dynamic of this matchup makes it even more volatile when trying to forecast who comes out on top. Nickal wrestling his way to a decision is the most likely path on paper. I’m not sure he’ll be able to do that comfortably if he’s facing another dangerous submission artist who keeps him on his back foot with pressure, à la the Renier de Ridder fight.
And considering I picked a lanky and awkward southpaw successfully for the upset that time, I can’t help but side with an arguably more technical archetype this time around. To quote the film Donnie Darko, “I’m voting for Dukakis.”
The official pick is for Daukaus to force a dogfight and find a club-and-sub finish in Round 2.
