What’s going on with Cameron Brink?

by

The Los Angeles Sparks selected Cameron Brink with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, and it feels like the 24-year-old star hasn’t been able to catch a break in the two years since.

Brink’s rookie year was cut short after 14 games when she suffered a season-ending ACL tear on June 18, 2024, which cut her 2025 season short. Brink returned on July 29, 2025, and was limited to 19 games.

Fully healthy, Brink figured to take a huge leap in her third WNBA season. But she was hit with another unfair setback toward the end of the Sparks’ 78-58 loss to the Golden State Valkyries in the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup on Tuesday.

“Cameron Brink started limping toward the bench before taking a seat on the floor before she got there,” ESPN’s Kendra Andrews reported from the game. “Her teammates are now helping her up over to a seat. Not quite sure what happened. She stood in the corner for a bit and is now walking off of the court under her own power.”

After the game, Sparks head coach Lynne Roberts said, “She’s getting evaluated right now.”

There was no further update until Sparks beat reporter John W. Davis relayed that Brink has been ruled out with a left ankle injury for the team’s matchup with the Minnesota Lynx on Wednesday.

Let’s hope that it’s a short-lived stint on the injury report.

Brink has averaged 9.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 1.1 assists through 14 games for the 7-7 Sparks.
