With the Fever leading 62-59 with 6:46 remaining in the quarter, Sykes drove to the basket before suddenly falling to the floor with what appeared to be a non-contact injury. Sykes immediately grimaced in pain and put her jersey over her head as her teammates surrounded her with towels to shield her.

Toronto head coach Sandy Brondello walked onto the court toward Skyes and motioned for referees to review the play. Sykes was eventually helped to her feet and assisted off the court to the locker room by team personnel.

Sykes exited with 11 points, shooting 5-of-8 from the field and 1-of-1 from the 3-point line.

The injury marks a major blow to the injury-riddled Tempo. To make matters worse, Sykes, 32, is in midst of a career-best year in her first season with the Tempo, averaging 20.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists through 14 games (all starts). She’s shooting 41.4% from the field and 25.9% form the 3-point line.
