Among the teams pursuing Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Miami Heat have reportedly been the most aggressive in trade discussions.
However, the Milwaukee Bucks have not been convinced by the package currently available from Miami.
“Miami has been the team most aggressive in trying to get him. But they have seven or eight different pieces that they can trade, none of them that I consider super-premium and I think the Bucks probably want all of them,” ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said.
The standoff has drawn comparisons to the Damian Lillard trade saga in 2023, when negotiations between the Portland Trail Blazers and Heat stretched for months before Lillard was ultimately traded to Milwaukee in September.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics continue to be viewed as another serious contender in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.
Windhorst indicated that communication between Boston and Milwaukee has already taken place and suggested a blockbuster deal would likely require a major sacrifice from the Celtics.
“Have the Celtics and Bucks talked? I believe that they have,” said Windhorst. “If they consummate a deal, would it involve Jaylen Brown? I believe that it would.”
With the draft rapidly approaching and no agreement appearing imminent, Antetokounmpo’s future remains one of the biggest unresolved storylines of the NBA offseason.
