Free agent big man Precious Achiuwa appears increasingly likely to remain with the Sacramento Kings for the 2026-27 season.

Speaking during a recent radio appearance, ESPN 1320 insider James Ham said the expectation around the organization is that the player will return to Sacramento after a productive stint with the team.

“The word I’m hearing is it’s very, very likely that Precious Achiuwa will be back next season,” Ham said.

Achiuwa earned praise from the Kings for his contributions last season, which has made retaining him a priority for the front office.

However, Ham noted that a significant raise does not appear likely due to Sacramento’s salary-cap constraints.

According to Ham, the center could return on another minimum contract or potentially receive a modest increase in salary, though the team’s flexibility is limited.

The Kings only hold Achiuwa’s Non-Bird rights, restricting the size of any offer unless they create additional cap space or gain access to another exception.

The situation may also be helped by the player’s own interest in staying with the franchise.

Back in March, Achiuwa publicly indicated that he would welcome the opportunity to re-sign with Sacramento, and both sides now appear to be moving toward a reunion for next season.
