Here’s Toronto Raptors assistant GM Dan Tolzman on what teams want from big men in today’s game/taking a close look at what they’ve lacked down low.

(via Hello and Welcome):

“I think everybody wants bigs that can step out on the perimeter and not only offensively, but defensively, too, because as you see in the playoffs, it’s all about matchups. You can put people in actions and try to hunt the matchups that you want. You want your bigs to be able to switch around and not look like they’re out on an island with that. And so, as long as there’s kinda an ability to do that. They don’t need to be great at it, but just not look out of place doing that. I think that’s really key.

“And then, I mean, for our team, we’ve got a lot of really interesting bigs. But I think everybody knows lob threats, shot-blocking, that’s probably the side of the bigs that we have lacked. And so, taking a close look at that and how maybe if it’s not the draft, then it could also be free agency. But it’s gonna be a wrinkle in our offense that I think could unlock some other stuff.”
