Key FSU defensive line target commits to ACC rival

by

The FSU Seminoles were seen as the favorite for three-star defensive lineman Jason Lewis, but they were unable to close on the in-state target. Instead, he has committed to Fran Brown and the Syracuse Orange, according to Zach Blostein of 247Sports.

Lewis is from Kissimmee, Florida, and officially visited both programs, with Syracuse taking advantage of getting his final visit. The Seminoles have been recruiting him since Feb. 9, when they extended him a scholarship offer. While they hosted him on more visits, the Orange extended him an offer in May that year and were able to pull off the upset.

He is ranked as the No. 627 overall player and No. 79 defensive lineman in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 50 player from Florida.

Lewis was limited to nine games as a junior at Osceola High School, but he made the most of his chances. He recorded 37 tackles, 12.0 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks, 15 quarterback hurries, and blocked one punt.

While missing out on Lewis stings, the Seminoles do have several defensive linemen already committed. Four-star edge Anthony Cavallaro is one of their highest-rated commits and is joined by three-star defensive linemen Eric Vaulx Jr. and three-star edge Jaxon Holly. They are also the favorite for four-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune, one of their top targets in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
