Notre Dame may have lost out on one defensive lineman target on Tuesday but quickly made up for it with a commitment from another.
The Irish were able to lock down the commitment from 2027 defensive lineman Segun Alexander, a prospect out of Rabun Gap-Nacoochie, Georgia. The 6-foot, 2-inch and 295-pound prospect is ranked No. 451 overall in his class by 247Sports Composite and he is the No. 52 ranked defensive lineman. Alexander picked the Irish over Texas A&M, Clemson, and Vanderbilt.

Earlier on Tuesday, Notre Dame target Tyler Alexander chose to commit to the Texas Longhorns despite an aggressive Irish push, but with the way Notre Dame has been recruiting lately it did not take long at all to find a replacement. In fact it took merely hours.
In Alexander’s junior season, he was able to accumulate 36 total tackles, 18 tackles for loss and 13 sacks in just 12 games. On film, he shows a powerful first punch and strong hands. As he continues to develop, his frame and motor project him as an interior disruptor.
With Alexander committed, Notre Dame adds a high-upside defender to it’s multi-year timeline. For Notre Dame, it reaffirms that even if the program is not going to win every recruiting battle, their current ranking as the No. 3 overall in the 2027 class suggests that there is still some real momentum going for the program.
