Johnson is going through the rookie campaign of her WNBA career, while Reese progresses through her third season in the league. They were teammates on the LSU Tigers throughout the 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns, winning the national championship in 2023.
The duo played alongside one another as star teammates in college, winning games at one of the best programs in the sport. It would make sense for them to have great chemistry on and off the court together.
However, they are on different sides in the pros. Reese is on her second WNBA team with the Dream, while Johnson is getting comfortable as a rookie.
Johnson prevailed in her first WNBA game against Reese, producing 24 points and 11 rebounds. Before coming off the court, she tried to get a handshake with Reese. However, she didn’t get the result she was expecting, at least for the moment.
