The Texas A&M Aggies are closing in on a historic recruiting class. Mike Elko and Co. now have seven five-star players in their 2027 recruiting class, with wide receiver Eric McFarland III committing to them on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel on Sunday.

McFarland picked Texas A&M over the Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs. He was originally a member of the 2028 recruiting class but reclassified up a year. The Aggies offered him a scholarship in February of 2025 and hosted him on an official visit on May 28, the final one he took before committing.

He is ranked as the No. 38 overall player and No. 6 wide receiver in the 247Sports composite. While he is from Las Vegas, Nevada, he attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, and is the No. 4 player in Florida. Five of the top seven players from Florida are now committed to Texas A&M, including five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews and five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson.

McFarland was IMG’s No. 1 wide receiver last season, catching 29 passes for 595 yards and 11 touchdowns, leading them in all three categories. The 5-foot-8, 177-pounder also completed one pass for a 57-yard touchdown.

He is Texas A&M’s 25 committment and solidifies their standing as the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. Eighteen of their commits are blue-chip prospects, with 11 of them ranking among the 100 best players in the country. They now have a five-star prospect committed at every position except quarterback and running back.
