Cunningham shared a collection of photos from recent days on Instagram, mixing in pregame outfits, game action and one of her trademark humorous posts. Among the images was a photo capturing the moment Sparks guard Rae Burrell accidentally hit Cunningham in the face while attempting to knock the ball loose during Saturday’s game.
Rather than ignoring the moment, Burrell jumped into the comments with a public apology.
“Iolll my bad 😅🤣,” Burrell wrote.
The brief exchange quickly showed there were no lingering hard feelings after the play, which resulted in a foul during the game.
Rae Burrell’s foul became part of Sophie Cunningham’s latest Instagram post
The play occurred as Burrell defended Cunningham on the perimeter. While reaching for the basketball, Burrell’s hand made contact with Cunningham’s face, forcing the Fever guard to briefly recoil.
When Cunningham later included the photo in her Instagram carousel, Burrell noticed it almost immediately and responded with the playful apology. It’s another example of Cunningham using social media to have fun with moments from the season. The Fever veteran has developed a reputation for mixing basketball highlights with self-deprecating humor and memes, often drawing plenty of engagement from fans.

The Fever now have nearly a week between games before opening a four-game road trip on July 5. Two of those contests will come against the Las Vegas Aces, giving Indiana an opportunity to continue climbing the WNBA standings after snapping its recent skid. Meanwhile, the Sparks dropped to 8-10 despite entering the game having won four of their previous six contests. Los Angeles will return home for its next three games as it looks to get back above the .500 mark.
