Mets vs. Blue Jays prediction: Odds, recent stats, trends, and best bets for June 30

by

The Mets (35-50) and Blue Jays (40-45) continue their three-game interleague series tonight at Rogers Centre.

George Springer’s trip to the plate in the first inning epitomized the Mets’ season to date. The veteran turned a single to right that got by Juan Soto into a little league home run and that was the difference as Trey Yesavage outdueled Sean Manaea and Toronto won 2-1. The Blue Jays snapped a six-game losing streak in the process. Yesavage worked 6.2 innings and allowed just one run on three hits. Manaea gave up two runs over 5.2 innings. Francisco Lindor homered to account for New York’s run.

Tonight, the Mets will hand the ball to Nolan McLean, who enters with a 4-5 record, 4.03 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 106 strikeouts in 89.1 innings. McLean has emerged as one of the brighter spots in New York’s rotation this season, but he was awful in his last start allowing six runs over six innings to the Cubs last Wednesday. Toronto counters with veteran right-hander Kevin Gausman, who brings a 4-6 record, 4.36 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 93 strikeouts in 95 innings to the bump. Gausman has experienced an up-and-down season by his standards. His last start was a downer as he allowed ten hits and six runs over six innings last Thursday against the Rangers.
