Candace Parker inducted into Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame

Former Tennessee women’s basketball player Candace Parker was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

She played in the WNBA from 2008-23 and was selected No. 1 overall in the 2008 WNBA draft by Los Angeles. The former Lady Vol also played for Chicago and Las Vegas.

Parker was the 2008 WNBA Rookie of the Year, a seven-time WNBA All-Star and named league MVP in 2008 and 2013.

She was a seven-time First-Team All-WNBA standout and WNBA Finals MVP in 2016. Parker led Chicago, Los Angeles and Las Vegas to WNBA championships and has her No. 3 jersey is retired by all three franchises.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist played at Tennessee from 2006-08 under head coach Pat Summitt.

Parker led the Lady Vols to consecutive national championships in 2007-08. Her No. 3 jersey number is also retired by Tennessee.

Parker is the 11th Tennessee player and 17th person affiliated with the Lady Vols to be enshrined into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
