The Dallas Mavericks have opened discussions about potentially bringing over Tarik Biberovic, with internal talks centered on a possible move from Fenerbahce as early as next season. The pursuit comes as Dallas weighs roster additions under new leadership following a 26–56 campaign.

According to reporting from Marc Stein on Thursday, Dallas will formally acquire Biberovic’s draft rights next week and has already engaged his representatives regarding a transition to the NBA.

Stein also noted that Biberovic’s current contract includes a $2 million buyout, while NBA rules limit the Mavericks’ direct contribution to $900,000, leaving the remaining financial responsibility to be resolved in negotiations with the player’s camp.

Biberovic’s 2025–26 EuroLeague production reflects a perimeter-oriented scoring profile, with 10.7 points per game on .443 shooting overall and .399 from three across 36 games. He also averaged 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists, while attempting 5.1 three-pointers per game.

In domestic competition during the same season, he increased his efficiency to 12.3 points per game in the Turkish League while shooting .502 from the field and .489 from three over 25 games. Across eight professional seasons in Europe, he has maintained a .423 three-point percentage, with steady improvement in volume from 1.0 attempts per game early in his career to more than 5.0 per game in recent seasons.

The Mavericks’ interest comes as the franchise retools around a young core following a front-office overhaul that installed Masai Ujiri as team president, Mike Schmitz as general manager, and Dusty May as head coach. Dallas also reshaped its roster around 2026 Rookie of the Year Cooper Flagg, who led the team with 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.

Dallas ranked 12th in the Western Conference at 26–56, despite key contributions from players such as Max Christie (12.3 points per game on .404 three-point shooting) and Daniel Gafford (9.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game on .655 shooting). The roster’s perimeter shooting profile ranked uneven overall, with several rotation wings posting sub-35% three-point efficiency.

Biberovic’s catch-and-shoot volume and multi-year .400-plus three-point range in EuroLeague play align with Dallas’ need for stable off-ball spacing alongside Flagg and guard creators such as Brandon Williams and Ryan Nembhard. His projected availability remains contingent on buyout resolution, with Fenerbahce maintaining leverage due to his under-contract status in Europe.
