Relay Champion Theodora Taylor Heads 50 Free At Euro Juniors

Theodora Taylor returned to the Munich pool the morning after winning relay gold to take top spot in the women’s 50 free during day two prelims at the European Junior Championships.

The 17-year-old split 53.42 – the fastest of the field – as the British women’s 4×100 free quartet set a European junior record and championship mark of 3:37.35 on the opening night of finals.

Taylor was back in the water for the dash in which she won joint silver last year and posted the fastest time of 25.17 into Wednesday evening’s semis. Irene Ciercoles Galve of Spain was next through in 25.21.

Vivien Jackl was back after winning 400IM silver behind Great Britain’s Amalie Smith, this time taking on the 1500 free in which she won bronze at Samorin 2025. The Hungarian was third through in 16:34.97 behind neutral athlete Kseniia Misharena (16:28.07) and Romania’s Diana-Gabriela Stiger (16:34.63).

Kuzey Tuncelli and Johannes Liebmann won gold and silver in the men’s 1500 free last year with the pair each making a sizeable impact on the senior stage including global titles and European records,

Juan Vallmitjana Behrendt of Spain led the way in 15:21.22 ahead of Adrien Espriet of France (15:22.31).

Mikhail Shcherbakov (AIN) started the defence of his 200IM title with the top time of 2:00.62 while Yara Fay Riefstahl led three women inside the minute mark in the 100 fly in 59.30.

Spain led the way in  the mixed 4×100 free relay in 3:29.16 ahead of Great Britain (3:29.36) and Italy (3:29.81).
