LAS VEGAS – King Green is surprised Terrance McKinney wanted to fight him.
Green (35-17-1 MMA, 16-12-1 UFC) takes on McKinney (18-8 MMA, 8-5 UFC) in Saturday’s UFC 329 (Paramount+) main card opener at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Green thought he and McKinney were friends, which is why it took him by surprise when the fight materialized. McKinney insists it’s the UFC that offered the fight, and he wasn’t about to turn down the opportunity to compete on a card headlined by the return of Conor McGregor.
“It’s interesting. He’s trying to save face,” Green told MMA Junkie of McKinney. “It’s really bullsh*t. I think he just wants to swing on Conor McGregor’s balls and say he’s on Conor McGregor’s card, like whoopty f*cking doo. But it’s like, you’re going to sacrifice some of this sh*t just for clicks? I’m not tripping. I’ll wait until the L.A. card. I’ll wait until another card, and I’ll still make it pop.
“It don’t matter that I’m here because of Conor McGregor. I’m going to do what I’m going to do regardless. I think he’s chasing clout and chasing those things, and I had a conversation with him, and he’s worried about the public. I’m not worried. I’m doing me, bro, and if you like me, you like me. If you don’t, you don’t. It is what it is. I’m not trying to be fake or phony or try to chase clout. I want clout to chase me, not vice versa.”

Green comes into the fight with momentum having won three in a row. He takes on McKinney, who has the shortest average fight time in UFC history. With Green chasing the BMF belt, a matchup like McKinney should be exactly what he’s looking for.
“He’s a quick pumper,” Green said of McKinney. “I’m here for the long run. No, this is going to be a long time. We’re going to dance.”
