Announced by the program Wednesday, former Alabama basketball forward Sam Walters has transferred to the Troy Trojans.
Walters, who is set to enter his senior season in 2026-27, will have one year of eligibility remaining.

The former Alabama forward recently spent the 2025-26 season at SMU where he started in 2-of-24 games played with the Mustangs, averaging 2.6 points per game on 34.9% shooting from three. Prior to last season, Walters was at Michigan during the 2024-25 campaign where he averaged five points and 1.6 rebounds in 23 games coming off the Wolverines’ bench.
Before arriving at Michigan, Walters spent his freshman season at Alabama in 2023-24, appearing in 37 games off the bench for the Crimson Tide‘s Final Four team. Walters averaged a career-high 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds per game with the Crimson Tide, also shooting 39.4% from three-point range.
