Florida adds Merrimack to 2026-27 non-conference basketball schedule

by

Florida basketball’s 2026-27 schedule got a little bit clearer on Tuesday when it was revealed that the Gators will host the Merrimack Warriors inside the O’Connell Center on Friday, Nov. 13, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

It will be the second straight season that Florida and Merrimack face off on the collegiate parquet, having faced off in the O’Dome last November. The Gators prevailed with dominance, scoring an 80-45 victory behind Alex Condon’s double-double effort, notching 20 points and 11 rebounds in 30 minutes of play.

The two schools have met just one other time — a 77-57 victory for the Orange and Blue in Gainesville on Dec. 5, 2023. Walter Clayton Jr. paced his team with 26 points, three rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal, while Condon also had a double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down 16 rebounds; the latter’s plus-27 on the court led the team by a wide margin that night.

Todd Golden’s gang opens up the 2026-27 campaign on Monday, Nov. 2, against the Miami Hurricanes at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida — the same venue that their previous season came to a close in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Along with that matchup, Florida’s other known non-conference matchups come against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Players Era Tournament held in Las Vegas, with six other potential opponents in that event, plus a home game against the Duke Blue Devils on Dec. 1.
