Georgia football landed its first top 15 ranked in-state defensive player for its 2027 class on Saturday when Douglas County safety Adryan Cole announced his college choice.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound four-star becomes the highest ranked defensive player committed to Georgia in the 247Sports Composite.

Cole, who announced his decision on 247Sports’ YouTube channel, is the No. 166 overall prospect, the 12th ranked safety and the No. 15 in Georgia.
“I don’t think the ranking does him justice,” Douglas County coach Johnny White told the Athens Banner-Herald. “He’s an unbelievable player. He’s smart. He’s athletic. His athleticism is unbelievable. I’ve been in Georgia since 2000. He’s definitely the best safety I’ve had since Eric Berry and Josh Holsey.”
White coached those players at Creekside High. Berry graduated in 2006 and then starred at Tennessee. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Holsey graduated in 2011 before starting 31 games for Auburn.
The Bulldogs beat Florida, Ole Miss and LSU for Cole’s commitment.

Georgia’s top five ranked recruits in its 19-player class are all on offense.
White praised Cole’s range, speed, knowledge of the game and vertical jumping ability.
“He got us in the third round,” he said of a 30-24 GHSA playoff victory over North Cobb in overtime. “They threw a post in the end zone and he just unbelievably jumped over everybody and picked it off.”
He said Cole is a physical player who can play in the box and also play corner.
“He’s just a versatile athlete,” Cole said. “Georgia is getting a special football player.”
