Three-star edge rusher Jag Ioane, the final uncommitted prospect who took an official visit to Washington in the 2027 class, announced his commitment to the BYU Cougars on Saturday morning.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound product of Orem High School in Utah, who is ranked as the No. 1,292 overall prospect and No. 103 edge rusher by the 247Sports Composite, picked coach Kalani Sitake’s school over Michigan and Utah, along with the Huskies.

Ioane took official visits to all four of his finalists, beginning with the Utes on June 5, before his trip to Montlake on June 8, and the Cougars on June 11, rounding things out with the Wolverines on June 19, but a long standing relationship with Sitake’s in-state program won the day.
“The biggest reasons I chose BYU is the player development, the coaching staff and the vision they have for me to ultimately make it to the next level,” Ioane told Rivals’ Greg Biggins of his decision. “The coaching staff at BYU showed me time and time again how they will utilize me and develop me into the player I want to become.”
“My family gave me their input as well but left it up to me completely. I’ve been to BYU a ton over the last year and really like the direction the program is going in, and I’m really excited to be a part of what they’re building right now.”

The Huskies hold four commits along the defensive line, headlined by four-star defensive tackles Jon Ioane and Tevita Nonu and four-star edge rusher Chaz Gray. Given his size, Jag was most likely a year or two away from seeing the field, but his explosiveness and high ceiling as a pass rusher would have been an intriguing fit in outside linebackers coach Aaron Van Horn’s room.
