While football is on the mind of most Auburn fans, the Auburn Tigers‘ basketball team is preparing for a trip to Greece in August. One of the newcomers from the transfer portal is dealing with an injury.
On Monday evening, Jay G. Tate of Auburn Sports reported that forward Owen Freeman has missed the last two weeks of practice due to a foot injury. According to the report, head coach Steven Pearl is not worried about the injury. It appears to just be a precaution, but Freeman has had injury issues in the past.

Freeman played his first two college seasons at Iowa, where he averaged 12.8 points per game and 6.7 rebounds. His sophomore year during the 2024-25 season, he stood out, averaging 16.7 points per game. He would then transfer to Creighton, looking to continue that success. He would suffer a knee injury the summer before the 2025-26 season, and suffered another injury during the season. He averaged just five points per game, and started just 9 of 26 games played. Freeman then entered the transfer portal again and signed with the Tigers.
Pearl is doing the right thing by taking this precaution with Freeman due to his injury history. Auburn did a good job over the off-season in creating more depth along the frontcourt by using the transfer portal. However, Freeman is an important part of the Tigers having a successful 2026-27 season.
