Chaney Johnson continued to impress the Brooklyn Nets during Summer League, strengthening his case for a larger role with the organization, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post.
After earning a two-way contract as an undrafted free agent last year, Johnson stood out with his relentless effort and defensive versatility.
He even spent time playing undersized center during the California Classic before emerging as one of Brooklyn’s top performers in Las Vegas, where Lewis considered him the team’s third-best player behind Egor Demin and lottery pick Mikel Brown Jr.
Johnson averaged 13.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and a Summer League-best 3.3 steals per game while shooting an impressive 67.7% from the field, 42.9% from three-point range and 80.0% at the free-throw line.
“I feel like my main goal is just to be the hardest-playing player out there,” Johnson said. “So, whatever the team needs, that’s my job.”
