Angel Reese put together another dominant two-way showing on Friday night against the Seattle Storm.
The Atlanta Dream forward finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and two steals as Atlanta held off the Storm 98-89 at Gateway Center Arena, extending its winning streak to five games and improving to 18-10 on the season.

It was Reese’s 19th double-double of the year, but the box score only told part of the story.

Six of Reese’s 13 rebounds on Friday came on the offensive glass, pushing her season total past Brionna Jones‘ single-season franchise record of 136 offensive rebounds.
Reese has now collected 137 offensive rebounds this season, setting a new Dream single-season franchise record. More importantly, the WNBA’s rebounding queen got there in just 27 games.
Besides Reese, Naz Hillmon added 18 points, Allisha Gray chipped in with 16, and Jordin Canada contributed with 10 points and 9 assists for the Dream.

What makes Reese’s achievement even more remarkable is that Atlanta still has 16 regular-season games left to play. She has already broken the record with more than a month remaining before the WNBA playoffs, giving her plenty of time to raise the bar even higher.
So, once the final buzzer sounded, WNBA fans flooded X to shower Reese with praise and admiration.
“THIS IS LEGIT THE GREATEST TO EVER TOUCH A BASKETBALL,” one fan posted.
“No one like her. One of one 👑,” another Reese loyal wrote.
The NBA’s official account got in on it, too, posting Reese’s stat line while celebrating Atlanta’s fifth straight win.
Meanwhile, one X user marveled at the pace of her rebounding, writing:

“Angel Reese (137 and counting) just broke the Atlanta Dream single-season record for offensive rebounds in a season 🔥The Dream have 16 games left 🤯You can’t teach that kind of effort and motor.”
The Atlanta Dream’s PR account also highlighted the magnitude of Reese’s latest achievement:
“In just 27 games, Angel Reese has set a new record for most offensive rebounds by a Dream player in a season. The previous record was held by fellow All-Star teammate Bri Jones at 136 (2025). Reese currently holds the WNBA record for most in a season with 172 (2024).”
It’s another line on an already loaded résumé. Reese still holds the outright WNBA record for offensive rebounds in a season, collecting 172 during her rookie year in 2024, and she remains the fastest player in league history to reach 1,000 career rebounds.

The Dream acquired her from the Chicago Sky on April 6, and in her third WNBA season, she has looked every bit like the cornerstone the front office hoped for.
Over Atlanta’s current five-game winning streak, Reese is averaging 19.4 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2.6 steals per game while shooting 48% from the field. She has also recorded four 20-point, 10-rebound performances during that stretch.
Her confidence has been just as noticeable as her rebounding. At one point on Friday, with Atlanta leading 29-17 in the second quarter, she jumped a passing lane, took the steal coast-to-coast, and finished it herself, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
Reese has also been in the headlines this week for reasons that have nothing to do with box scores.

She was at the center of a league controversy involving a friendly $400 wager with Dallas Wings‘ Paige Bueckers over the outcome of their teams’ matchup.
The incident drew backlash given the league’s rules against player betting, even though neither star ultimately faced discipline.
While that story generated headlines of its own, Friday’s performance shifted the conversation back to Reese’s basketball prowess. Reese and the Dream will return to action against the Las Vegas Aces on Aug. 3.
