Jaylen Brown spent part of his offseason pushing himself beyond the basketball court as he went skydiving in Egypt to overcome his fear of heights.
The newly acquired Philadelphia 76ers star shared his reaction immediately after landing, saying: “I can’t believe I just did this.” Brown’s jump was motivated by a desire to conquer one of his biggest fears before returning for the 2026-27 NBA season.
Brown enters the upcoming campaign after one of the finest years of his career. The 29-year-old averaged a career-high 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 71 games for the Boston Celtics during the 2025-26 season while shooting 47.7% from the field and 79.5% from the free-throw line. His performance earned him his fourth consecutive All-Star selection, Second Team All-NBA honors and a sixth-place finish in the NBA MVP voting.
The offseason has brought major changes for Brown. Philadelphia acquired the veteran wing from Boston in one of the biggest trades of the summer, sending Paul George and multiple first-round draft picks to the Celtics. The move signaled a win-now approach by the 76ers, who are reshaping their roster around Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and newly signed LeBron James.
Brown arrives in Philadelphia with a résumé that includes 674 regular-season games across 10 NBA seasons, all previously with Boston. Since entering the league as the third overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, he has averaged 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists while developing into one of the NBA’s premier two-way wings.
His offensive production has steadily climbed over the years. Brown averaged just 6.6 points as a rookie before becoming a 20-point scorer in 2019-20. He has now recorded at least 22 points per game in each of the past six seasons, highlighted by his 28.7-point campaign last year.
Philadelphia is hoping Brown’s arrival can elevate a team that finished 45-37 last season before defeating Boston in a seven-game first-round playoff series. The 76ers’ postseason run ended in the Eastern Conference semifinals, where they were swept 4-0 by the eventual NBA champion New York Knicks.
