The Dodgers catcher reunion tour added a new feature on Monday. Hours after getting Ben Rortvedt from the New York Mets, the Dodgers also acquired Hunter Feduccia from the Tampa Bay Rays for minor league outfielder Jack Suwinski.
Also in the trade are the Dodgers getting minor league right-hander Jacob Kmatz, a fifth-rounder from 2024 currently in Double-A. The Rays will get international bonus pool slot space from the Dodgers.

Feduccia was dealt away at the 2025 trade deadline, part of a three-team deal that brought Rortvedt, reliever Paul Gervase, and minor league pitcher Adam Serwinowski to the Dodgers. Feduccia this season for the Rays is hitting .234/.306/.340 with an 82 wRC+ with seven doubles and two home runs in 60 games, including 51 starts behind the plate.
Feduccia this season has a 2 Fielding Run Value as catcher, with his excellent framing outweighing his below-average throwing, per Baseball Savant.
Now he’s back with the team that drafted him in the 12th round in 2018 out of LSU.
Suwinksi was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers in February and briefly on the 40-man roster but was soon sent outright to the minors in March. The 27-year-old has thrived in Oklahoma City, hitting .291/.396/.562 with a 134 wRC+, 21 home runs, and 25 doubles in 92 games.

Kmatz, who turns 24 the day after the regular season ends in September, has a 2.89 ERA in 33 games this season between High-A Bowling Green and Double-A Montgomery, with 74 strikeouts against only 10 walks in 53 innings. His 30.9-percent strikeout-minus-walk rate is fourth-highest among all minor league pitchers with at least 50 innings this year.
