Kevin Durant’s praise of the Philadelphia 76ers has unexpectedly reignited tensions with two of his former Golden State Warriors teammates.

While comparing Philadelphia’s new star-studded lineup to the Warriors dynasty he joined in 2016, Durant argued that the Sixers’ collection of talent stacks up well against that championship team. In doing so, however, he referenced Klay Thompson’s résumé.

“Klay Thompson, never a MVP candidate in nothing, 22ppg,” Durant wrote while highlighting the accomplishments of Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown and Tyrese Maxey.

Thompson responded on Instagram after seeing the remark.

“Aye man u good?” Thompson wrote. “What u using my full government for??”

Draymond Green also joined the exchange, joking about Durant’s well-known history of using anonymous social media accounts.

“Slim thought he was on his burner?” Green wrote on Threads.

The exchange revived memories of Durant’s infamous 2017 burner-account incident, as well as the friction that developed between him and Green during their final years together in Golden State.

Although Durant believes the new-look 76ers have enough star power to be mentioned alongside the Warriors dynasty, Philadelphia has yet to prove itself on the court.
