Daniel Theis will continue his EuroLeague career with Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv after the Israeli club officially announced the veteran center’s signing on a two-year contract.
The German international had previously been linked with a move to LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne but ultimately chose Maccabi following negotiations between the two sides.
“This is a very significant signing,” club chairman Shimon Mizrahi said. “Daniel Theis is an experienced player, and his addition is a major reinforcement for Maccabi’s defensive end as well. I am glad to announce that after long negotiations, we succeeded in bringing him to Maccabi.”
Head coach Oded Kattash also praised the arrival of the 34-year-old.
“Daniel Theis will add a lot of experience to our team,” Kattash said. “He has played at every level, in NBA and EuroLeague teams, and won both the World Cup and the European Championship with Germany. He knows what it’s like to be on a winning team and what it takes to be a winning team. Professionally, he is a versatile big man who can play inside and outside, giving us great flexibility at that position. We are looking forward to working together.”
Theis returns for another full EuroLeague campaign after spending the past two seasons with Monaco, where he helped the club win the French League, French Cup and Leaders Cup.
Before returning to Europe in 2025, the former Boston Celtics center appeared in 411 NBA regular-season games with the Celtics, Bulls, Rockets, Pacers, Clippers and Pelicans.
