Well, the Guardians lost to the Mets last night in extra innings. The offense fought back all night, the outfield made some great plays, and Bibee pitched pretty well with 10Ks. The bad news is the same old, same old. This team cannot score with runners in scoring position. Until that is fixed, the rest of this season is looking bleak at best. The good news is that Nathaniel Lowe seemed to slot into the line up quite well and Angel Genao was above and beyond all expectations. Genao went from the second youngest player in franchise history to have three hits in his debut to being the only player in franchise history to have four hits in his debut.
Quincy has the write up on Genao’s promotion here and Nick has the game recap here, if you feel like reliving the pain. Also, for everyone asking why they went with Festa in the 10th, according to Stephen Vogt, Colin Holderman has been “under the weather” the last few days. With yesterday’s loss the Guardians have fallen one game below .500.

In order to make room for Angel Genao, the Guardians designated Gabriel Arias for assignment. Since Angel Genao was already on the 40 man roster, it does leave an open spot on the 40 man.

By some sort of miracle both the Twins and White Sox also lost last night. The Guards are 3.0 games behind the first place White Sox and only 1.0 game ahead of the Twins and Tigers. At the time of the writing the Tigers, who are playing west coast games against Seattle, are tied with the Twins and starting to claw their way back.
