Caitlin Clark endured a frustrating night Thursday as the Indiana Fever fell to the Las Vegas Aces 86-84 in overtime. The Fever star finished with 20 points on 7-for-20 shooting, including just 2-for-10 from 3-point range.
Her outside shooting struggles, however, were far from the biggest talking point after the final buzzer.

Instead, several officiating decisions involving Clark quickly became the focus of conversation, with supporters across social media questioning a series of whistles that went against the three-time All-Star.

The first controversial call came halfway through the opening quarter.
After boxing out Jewell Loyd to secure a defensive rebound, Clark was called for a foul after officials ruled she illegally used her left arm while establishing position.
Another disputed whistle arrived midway through the third quarter.
Clark was assessed an offensive foul for extending her left arm against Chelsea Gray. During the broadcast, the commentator suggested Gray used some “seasoned acting” to sell the contact. Replays appeared to show only minimal contact before Gray snapped her head backward.

The sequence immediately sparked criticism online.
“The refs not even hiding their hate for Caitlin Clark,” BrickCenter posted.
“When is Congress going to do more than write letters and actually make Cathy Engelbert testify? Talk is cheap, only action matters now,” Fever supporter Andy Froemel wrote.
“That rebound call was one of the strangest whistles I’ve seen this season,” a WNBA observer added.

“Bro they legit fouled Clark for catching the ball. This league’s whistle is softer than the Aces’ defense rn,” a Philadelphia 76ers supporter reacted.
“I hope she leaves the WNBA and goes to play in Israel,” an X user commented.
“The WNBA has the worst officiating in the history of basketball, any basketball,” another observer contended.
The controversy didn’t end there.

Late in the fourth quarter, Clark was called for a defensive foul while guarding reigning MVP A’ja Wilson. Clark appeared to maintain verticality before Wilson drove into the lane, where Aliyah Boston ultimately blocked the shot.
The commentator noted that Wilson initiated the contact and predicted the foul would be overturned after review.
Instead, officials upheld the call, triggering another wave of criticism.
“Special whistle for A’ja against Caitlin Clark. Review upheld. WNBA rigged, confirmed,” another WNBA supporter tweeted.
Whether the calls were correct or not, they quickly overshadowed the game itself. Instead of discussing the Aces’ narrow victory or Clark’s stat line, much of the postgame conversation centered on the officiating, continuing a pattern that has fueled debate among fans throughout the season whenever the Fever superstar takes the floor.
