Former Oklahoma forward to enter transfer portal

Oklahoma Sooners forward Tae Davis is planning to enter the transfer portal, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

The former Sooner was recently granted a fifth year of eligibility after a recent court ruling allowed all 2022 high school recruits to play a fifth season. One potential issue for Davis, who did not enter the transfer portal in the spring, is that the ruling did not change the transfer rules, and players who did not enter the portal during the initial window are unable to transfer. The NCAA is also appealing the decision.

Davis was one of Oklahoma’s top players as a senior last season, averaging 13.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He shot 49.7% from the floor, 21.4% from 3-point range, and 70.9% from the free-throw line.

The Indianapolis, Indiana native scored in double figures in 28 of their games, including the final nine games of the season. He was arguably their top player during their three games in the College Basketball Crown, averaging 18.7 points per game and shooting 46.2% from the field.

It was his first season playing for the Sooners, with him starting his career at Seton Hall. He then joined the Notre Dame Fighting Irish ahead of the 2023-24 season, spending two seasons with them before re-entering the portal. He has played in 134 total games with 103 starts, averaging 10.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.
