Tennessee has added another exhibition game to their preseason schedule. The Volunteers, already slated to go to Duke for another exhibition, will host Xavier at Food City Center on October 15th. The official announcement was made on Friday morning.
Tennessee’s matchup with Duke is set for October 20th.

The Volunteers are 12-5 all-time against the Musketeers. The two teams have played eight times in Knoxville, with Tennessee going 7-1 in those meetings. They haven’t played since 2013 in the Bahamas.
The NCAA now allows teams to play as many as three exhibition games during the preseason. Tennessee has taken advantage of these expanded rules in previous years, playing big time scrimmage matchups with Duke, Purdue and Gonzaga.
Xavier is now led by Richard Pitino, who is entering year two with the school. The Musketeers went 15-18 overall in year one under Pitino.
Tennessee will be breaking in nearly an entire new roster, led by Wake Forest transfer Juke Harris. Point guard Terrence Hill Jr., standout guard Dai Dai Ames and do-it-all wing Jalen Haralson make up the core of the rest of the class, which has been ranked as the best transfer group in the nation by multiple outlets.

The offense-first group will look to build chemistry in these matchups before playing for real against Wofford on November 3rd.
