Winnipeg hockey fans will have an opportunity to get up close and personal with the Stanley Cup on Monday.
Winnipeg product and newly-crowned Stanley Cup champion Seth Jarvis will bring hockey’s most famous trophy to the Tuxedo Community Centre on Aug. 10 for a public meet-and-greet from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

The community centre announced details of Jarvis’ appearance Friday evening, inviting fans to attend the free event at 368 Southport Blvd.

“Come on down and help us congratulate Seth Jarvis as he brings the Stanley Cup home,” the community centre wrote in its announcement.
The event is open to all ages, with attendees encouraged to bring cameras for an opportunity to see Jarvis and the Stanley Cup up close. The community centre noted that Jarvis will only be on site for the two-hour window.
Monday’s celebration will cap off a memorable year for the 24-year-old, who helped the Carolina Hurricanes capture the second Stanley Cup in franchise history in June.
Jarvis finished the regular season with 32 goals and 66 points in 71 games, leading Carolina in goals for the first time in his NHL career. It was also his third consecutive 30-goal season.

He then played an important role in Carolina’s run through the postseason, which culminated in a six-game Stanley Cup Final victory over the Vegas Golden Knights.
One of Jarvis’ biggest moments came in Game 2 of the Final. With Carolina facing the possibility of falling behind 2-0 in the series, Jarvis scored a power-play goal 3:56 into overtime to give the Hurricanes a 4-3 victory and even the series.
For Jarvis, the moment had a particularly fitting connection to Winnipeg.
Earlier in the series, he reflected on growing up shooting pucks in his driveway and imagining himself scoring Stanley Cup-winning goals.

“I might be undefeated,” Jarvis joked of those childhood Cup scenarios. “I might never have lost a Cup in my mind. But this is a little more real now, and way more exciting.”
Less than two weeks later, the Hurricanes defeated Vegas 3-0 in Game 6 to capture the Stanley Cup.
Jarvis was one of several Manitobans featured prominently in the Final. Winnipeg’s Mark Stone and Brett Howden and Brandon’s Keegan Kolesar suited up for Vegas, while former Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers won the Cup alongside Jarvis with Carolina.
