We’re only about a week into padded practices, so I don’t want to make too big of a deal about what’s happened in the Green Bay Packers‘ training camp so far, but we have gotten a couple of hints at how the team’s Week 1 roster will shake out. Between the Family Night stream and the reports from practice, some position groups that once appeared to be fairly wide open now consistently have the same small group of players breaking into playing time with first-team units.
So after Family Night, this is my best guess at how the Packers’ 2026 roster will shake out.

Quarterback
So far, there haven’t been many opportunities for Kyle McCord and rookie Kyron Drones to play with the second-team offense in training camp. At this point, Jordan Love is the clear number-one quarterback and Tyrod Taylor is the clear number-two quarterback, with McCord and Drones splitting time with the third-team offense.
Running Back
Both Josh Jacobs and Chris Brooks are dealing with what have been described as short-term injuries, but if either isn’t ready to go in the regular season, expect Pierre Strong Jr., who is getting most of the reps as the next man up behind the Packers’ top trio, to start pushing into the rosterable conversation.

Receiver
General manager Brian Gutekunst came out strongly for receiver/returner Skyy Moore in his first press conference since the pads came on, stating that he “expects” Moore to contribute to the team in 2026. There’s still time for Isaiah Neyor, who drew praise from head coach Matt LaFleur this summer, or rookie UDFA J. Michael Sturdivant to make up ground, but it seems Moore has the edge right now for the sixth receiver spot. For what it’s worth, Moore’s snaps with the first-team offense on Family Night exclusively came from the slot, so he’d be Jayden Reed’s backup on offense.
Tight End
The one injury suffered this offseason that might be a long-term issue for the Packers is to tight end Luke Musgrave, who is working through a neck injury. When Green Bay‘s decision-makers have spoken about Musgrave’s availability, they’ve spoken in vague, longer-term timelines. It wouldn’t surprise me (NOT A DOCTOR) if Musgrave started the regular season on the PUP list. Right now, the next man up is Drake Dabney, who has been primarily playing the Y position in camp (with Tucker Kraft also sidelined for team drills) and was called one of the team’s most improved players by offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich in his opening press conference of training camp.

Offensive Line
The Packers’ preferred offensive line clearly seems to be Jordan Morgan, Aaron Banks, Sean Rhyan, Anthony Belton and Zach Bako-Bewele (left to right). Behind them, the top backups in the first-team rotation in camp have been Darian Kinnard, Jacob Monk and Jager Burton, with Donovan Jennings surprisingly getting some first-team snaps over Travis Glover, who the team seemed high on going into last season prior to his season-ending shoulder injury. Now, John Williams’ versatility of playing all five offensive line positions might leave Glover on the outside looking in, if the team keeps just 10 offensive linemen on their Week 1 roster.
Defensive Line
Jordon Riley is going to start (and maybe end) the season on the PUP list after tearing his Achilles late in the 2025 season. For the most part, the four defensive linemen behind Devonte Wyatt and Javon Hargrave in the pecking order have filled in the majority of the first-team reps on defense while Wyatt and Hargrave have been continuing to rehab their knee injuries this summer. The sleeper here is Anthony Campbell, who has been making some noise in camp by racking up pass breakups and chasing down Tyrod Taylor from behind on “sacks.” Keep an eye out for him in the preseason.

Edge Defender
Micah Parsons is going to start the year on the PUP list and miss at least the first four weeks of the regular season, and it seems pretty clear at this point that the Packers’ top five edge rushers will be Lukas Van Ness, Barryn Sorrell, Brenton Cox Jr., Dani Dennis-Sutton and Collin Oliver. The team might have to drop one of them when Parsons returns, but that’s what it’s looking like for Week 1.
Linebacker
This is another group that seems pretty locked in, barring injury. Nick Niemann, who is on the team more for his special teams ability than his defensive depth, is even getting first-team reps with the punt team (probably the most important unit, in terms of a “starting job” translating to a roster spot) in camp. Quay Walker is out after signing with the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency, and Zaire Franklin, who the Packers traded for from the Indianapolis Colts, is in. Otherwise, Green Bay is running it back in 2026.

Cornerback
An open-ended question here is whether the Packers will keep five or six cornerbacks on the team, with Domani Jackson and Kamal Hadden being the potential fifth or sixth cornerbacks on the roster. So far, neither has practiced in team drills during training camp, though, so it’s difficult to know where they stand. Jackson suffered an injury this offseason while Hadden is coming off two fractures in his leg, an ankle dislocation and also dislocated his pinky in training camp.
Safety
Without Zayne Anderson, who signed with the Miami Dolphins in free agency, the Packers have room to keep Johnathan Baldwin, who is currently the backup slot defender behind Javon Bullard. Previously, Kitan Oladapo had played limited slot reps for Green Bay, but it now looks like Oladapo has been passed over by Baldwin (in the slot but not at safety), which could be enough for Baldwin to make the team.

Specialist
There’s only one kicker and one punter in camp, so it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out those positions for the Packers. Currently, Matt Orzech is dealing with a calf injury, which led to the signing of veteran long snapper Cal Adomitis. If any spot is up for grabs, it’s Adomitis making the most of his opportunity while Orzech has been sidelined.
