Erdogan Vs. Elliott MMA Clash, Lessei Vs. Guest Muay Thai Firefight Added To ONE Fight Night 48

by

ONE Championship has revealed a blockbuster main event for ONE Fight Night 48 on Prime Video, booking two heavyweight MMA powerhouses for a collision that will reshape the division’s landscape.

Undefeated Turkish powerhouse Shamil Erdogan takes on British knockout machine Paul “King of the North” Elliott in the main event on Friday, October 2, live in U.S. primetime from the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. On the same card, America’s Luke “The Chef” Lessei faces England’s Charlie Guest in a featherweight Muay Thai contest.

Erdogan is one of the most terrifying finishers in the world’s largest martial arts organization, regardless of the division.

The 36-year-old Dagestan-born southpaw from Kremost Fight Club and Tiger Muay Thai carries a perfect 13-0 MMA record into this contest, all five of his ONE victories coming via finish, and his average fight duration inside the promotion of just two minutes and 34 seconds tells the story of a man who wastes very little time once the bell rings.

The freestyle wrestling base that underpins his game makes him dangerous wherever the fight goes, and his promotional resume includes victories over legendary Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang, Gilberto “Giba” Galvao, and most recently Ryugo Takeuchi

An unbeaten record, an extraordinary finishing ability across all phases of the fight, and a relentless competitive drive make the Turkish behemoth one of the most compelling cases for a shot at the vacant ONE Heavyweight MMA World Title.

Standing across from him is a man who just delivered one of the most talked-about finishes in recent ONE history.

Elliott is a 34-year-old British kickboxer-turned-MMA-fighter from Akurei MMA Academy and TFT MMA with a 7-2 record, all seven of his professional victories coming via finish. After a difficult start to his promotional journey, the Englishman has since turned on the afterburners, stringing together back-to-back knockout victories.

At ONE Fight Night 44 in June, Elliott landed a head-kick knockout of Regan Upshaw at the six-second mark — one of the fastest finishes in promotional history — and as a result announced the hard-hitting Briton as a genuine heavyweight force.

Like Erdogan, a dominant performance on October 2 could make a strong argument for a shot at the vacant heavyweight belt.

The featherweight Muay Thai contest between Lessei and Guest adds another layer of intrigue to the ONE Fight Night 48 card.

Lessei, a 30-year-old American from Dubuque Martial Arts Group with a 9-3 career record, has seen mixed results throughout his ONE journey but arrives on the back of a unanimous decision win over “The Eagle” Mohamed Younes Rabah in July.

Known for his offensive push kicks that keep opponents at distance and disrupt their rhythm, the American returns looking to string together consecutive wins and climb the featherweight Muay Thai ranks.

Guest is a 30-year-old Englishman from Impact MMA and Tiger Muay Thai with a 38-15 career record.

He announced himself to the global fan base in emphatic fashion on his promotional debut at ONE Fight Night 44 earlier this year, landing three knockdowns on Sam Fitzgerald to claim a TKO victory.

With the featherweight Muay Thai division yet to produce a clear-cut top contender at this moment, a statement performance from either man on October 2 could go a long way toward changing that.
