Amid all the pressure around the “XX-XY” movement, it appears that Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve is sticking to her guns. When asked about the movement potentially reaching the doors of the Lynx vs Golden State Valkyries game, Reeve made it clear that “transgender kids belong”.
“I don’t want to give them any more oxygen than they deserve,” Reeve said about the supporters of the movement.

“I have said this before: trans kids belong. And I think, as we’re seeing sort of politically, in this country, they’ve found a talking point that people are buying into, and the only thing I ask is that people educate themselves further on these issues and what we’re capable of doing together. And that something is not used just to marginalize a community.”
On the court, the Minnesota Lynx were successful as they beat the Valkyries 77-66 with Olivia Miles and Kayla McBride top scoring with 20 points each.
Cheryl Reeve Has Been A Supporter of Trans Players
Cheryl Reeve’s current stance comes in the light of her previous statements supporting the rights of transgender players.

“I come from a space of inclusion,” Reeve told the press a day before the Indiana Fever played the Lynx earlier this month.
“The narrative that I think is problematic is to suggest that transgender athletes are the biggest problem in women’s sports. This is what’s bothersome. There is a faction of people in our country that are making this a massive issue.”
Ever since Fever’s Sophie Cunningham made it clear that trans athletes shouldn’t be allowed in women’s sports, the debate has taken a life of its own, with Reeve facing both support and criticism for her beliefs.
