Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve doubles down on trans stance in the WNBA

The transgender debate continues to take over the WNBA, with Cheryl Reeve feeling the need to address the situation once again.

WNBA league-leaders Minnesota Lynx extended their win streak to five games with a sharp 77-66 road victory over the Golden State Valkyries, bringing their overall record to an impressive 30-7.

Behind a balanced effort led by rookie Olivia Miles and veteran Kayla McBride, who both poured in 20 points, the Lynx controlled the game down the stretch.

The win unfolded against a tense backdrop outside Chase Center, where demonstrators gathered to rally over trans athlete inclusion in women’s sports, a topic head coach Cheryl Reeve directly addressed pregame to reaffirm her stance.

Reeve previously called trans athlete inclusion a human rights issue, stating “every kid has a right to sports,” and wore a “Trans Kids Belong” shirt on the sideline.

And now she stands by her opinion, speaking pregame before the Lynx’s win over the Valkyries.

She said: “I have said this before, trans kids belong. And I think, as we’re seeing sort of politcally, in this country, they’ve found a talking point that people are buying into, and the only thing I ask is that people educate themselves further on these issues and what we’re capable of doing together. And that something is not used just to marginalize a community.”
