Florida State‘s uniforms and helmet combinations have been a staple of the program since the 1940s, with the spear and Seminole iconography being among the most recognizable brands in all of college football.
One can make a serious argument that the Seminoles have the best helmet and brand appeal in the entire sports world and not be laughed out of the room, as in 2025, FSU was a top-five most in-demand brand for apparel in college sports.

Jordan Mendoza and Craig Meyer of USA TODAY recently ranked the top 25 best helmets in all of college football, and perhaps unsurprisingly, the Seminoles debuted at No. 4 on their list.
As they put it:
Bobby Bowden is a legend in Tallahassee, and one of the lasting impacts was him putting the Seminole spear on the helmet. It truly encapsulates the Seminole nickname, while being an outstanding and innovative design that easily recognizable in college football, perhaps even more than the Chief Osceola logo. Mix that with the tomahawk stickers and you easily have of the best helmets in the sport.
The three teams ahead were No. 3 Ohio State, No. 2 Notre Dame, and No. 1 Michigan. Florida and Miami ranked as No. 11 and No. 12, respectively.
FSU opens its 2026 season against the New Mexico State Aggies this week on August 29. Fans can catch the game at 7:00 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
