The Chicago Sky have become the first WNBA franchise to announce they are banning Enes Kanter following his recent courtside antics.
Enes Kanter has become a lightning rod for controversy within the WNBA. His decision to become a central figure in the debate surrounding trans athletes has led to escalation after escalation.

Kanter recently attended a game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky. During the third quarter of this clash, the former NBA player got into a heated exchange with Sky star Natasha Cloud.
Following that, there have been calls for the 34-year-old man to be banned from attending future league games. While Kanter has said he didn’t break any rules, it seems the Sky hierarchy has seen enough.

Michael Alter says that Enes Kanter’s Wintrust Arena ban is about his ‘potential to be a threat’
After his provocative behaviour at Wintrust Arena, it seems this is the last time Kanter will attend a WNBA game there for the foreseeable future, at least.

On Tuesday night, news broke out that the team would be banning him from attending future home games. Owner Michael Alter explained the simple reason behind this decision.
“The Chicago Sky have decided to ban Enes Kanter Freedom from Wintrust Arena moving forward, owner Michael Alter said when speaking to local Chicago media,” Kareem Copeland shared on X.
The report also contained Alter’s words, who said, “He has demonstrated to us, unequivocally, that he has the potential to be a threat.”
Kanter is gaining quite a bit of notoriety from his current stance and the controversy it is causing. However, when one becomes a polarising figure, consequences like this are always likely.

The former NBA man has maintained that he wants to attend future W games, especially in the playoffs. After Chicago’s decision, though, it’s possible that other WNBA franchises could follow suit and ban him.
