Tennessee freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon was named to the preseason watch list for the ninth annual Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award.
The honor is awarded annually to an outstanding freshman player in college football. Brandon is one of 37 NCAA Division I FBS players selected to the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award watch list.

14 semifinalists will be announced on Nov. 4. Five finalists for the honor will also be announced on Dec. 28, and an award winner will be announced at the 90th annual Maxwell Awards ceremony on March 13, 2027, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel named Brandon the Vols’ starting quarterback for Week 1 versus Furman. Kickoff between the Vols and Paladins is slated for 3:30 p.m. EDT at Neyland Stadium.
Brandon enrolled at Tennessee in January and participated in spring practices.
He is from Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina.
