Dolphins news: JuJu Brents, final training camp practice, Tua set to start in Miami

by

The Miami Dolphins are relying heavily on newcomers in 2026, turning over an aging roster that was built to win immediately but failed to reach those heights. Many veterans from the past few years are gone, and the team is bringing in lower-cost veterans on one-year, “prove it” contracts while relying on rookies and second-year players to step up. The roster features many new faces hoping to claim a long-term spot as the franchise rebuilds.

Not everyone is new, however, and a returning veteran could play a major role in Miami‘s rebuild. Entering his fourth season, cornerback JuJu Brents is returning to the team after a foot injury landed him on injured reserve during the 2025 season. According to Jake Gibson over at Miami Dolphins on SI, Brents might be the “x-factor” the Miami defense needs.

Both Brents and head coach Jeff Hafley shared optimism about his skill set and what having him on the field means for the secondary, but there’s a very obvious concern with Brents, being his staggering, well-documented list of injuries in his young football career.

If he can overcome those, he could team with first-round pick Chris Johnson to give the Dolphins a high-end cornerback tandem for 2026 and maybe beyond. That would be a great starting point for putting together a top defensive unit.

You can check out the rest of that story here, and the rest of the day’s round-up below.
