We still don’t know if Aaron Donald will be making an NFL comeback or not, but Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay provided a couple updates on the situation Friday.
Speaking with reporters at Rams training camp at Loyola Methodist University, McVay said there would be no firm decision until the Rams have returned to their facilities at Woodland Hills on Aug. 7. However, the odds of Donald comeback are apparently better than they were a week ago:
“There have been conversations that we’ve had, we’ve loosely had some different timelines that are kinda temporary. I want to keep those between us if something unforeseen happens, out of respect for him and the situation.
“I know this: things are going in the right direction and if there’s an arrow, it’s trending upwards.”
Rumors of a potential Donald comeback have been circulating for months, especially when the man himself told ESPN’s Pat McAfee he was “for sure” thinking about a comeback following the Rams’ blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett.

A Garrett-Donald pass rush duo would be a historic combination of talent, with 236.5 career sacks and five Defensive Player of the Year awards between them. However, it’s been reported that if he comes back, it could be later in training camp if not during the season and not as an every-down player like he once was.

The Rams are scheduled to open their season Sept. 10 against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia.
With Garrett added to a core that was four points from winning the NFC last season, they are the consensus favorites to win the Super Bowl at +550 odds. Donald would obviously help those odds.
