New Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese was tuned in for Saturday’s preseason matchup between the Indiana Fever and the New York Liberty.
Reese’s long-time rival, Caitlin Clark, saw her first taste of action for the Fever following a season-ending groin injury in 2025. Clark worked hard to get back to game shape and was finally able to play in a WNBA game — albeit in the preseason — for the first time in more than nine months.

Clark struggled from the field, though, going just 2-of-10 overall and 1-of-5 from distance for seven points in 17 minutes of play. She also registered three rebounds, four assists, a block and zero turnovers, helping lead Indiana to a 109-91 road win against New York.

Reese, however, had her attention on one particular Fever player during the game. The two-time All-Star had her eyes on Indiana rookie Raven Johnson, who made her preseason debut for her new team after being selected 10th overall by the Fever in the 2026 WNBA Draft.

Johnson made waves in her first WNBA preseason game. She came off the bench for six points on 3-of-3 shooting, three rebounds and eight assists in 18 minutes of play. The former South Carolina Gamecocks star was a force on the defensive end, logging a steal and two blocks.
Reese sent a message to Johnson after the latter’s strong performance.
“so proud of my booskieeee @HollywoodRaven,” Reese posted on X.
Reese and Johnson were not teammates in college. In fact, they faced each other as opponents multiple times in the NCAA. However, their on-court rivalry turned into a personal friendship.

They have both shown support for each other by celebrating one another’s successes. When Johnson ended her decorated college career, Reese sent a proud message, also saying, “See you in the W!”
Reese is expected to make her Dream debut on Wednesday in their first preseason game. Atlanta will be on the road to face Reese’s former team, the Chicago Sky.
