Another TUF 34 loser added to UFC Vegas 120 fight card (on just four days notice)

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) sure likes short-notice fights.

This weekend’s UFC Vegas 120 card already had two short-notice fights added late last week, and now, just four days before the event, matchmakers have added one more.

Top Brazilian prospect and The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 34 standout Gigi Canuto will collide with Contender Series winner Carol Foro in “Sin City.”

Reporter Leo Guimaraes was first to break the news.

Canuto (7-1) was a contestant on TUF 34 and entered the show as one of the favorites to win the whole thing. And after her first fight inside the TUF house, it was easy to see why.

Despite being known as a high-level grappler, Canuto knocked out her opening-round opponent in just 25 seconds (watch highlights).

However, in the latest episode, which dropped today, the 23-year-old was stopped in the semifinal round by Melissa Amaya.

Nevertheless, even though Canuto lost on TUF, she still got the UFC call, which makes sense. She remains one of the better Strawweight prospects out there and is riding a three-fight win streak in her professional career, with two of those wins coming by first-round submission.

For what it’s worth, the other TUF contestant that Amaya stopped, Anna Melisano, also made her way to the UFC, but it was a disaster (watch highlights).

Foro (9-1) will be making her UFC debut after earning a contract on season nine of Contender Series, where she defeated Shanelle Dyer in a phenomenal fight.

The 29-year-old Brazilian is riding a seven-fight win streak and owns a 77 percent finish rate, with six knockouts and one submission. She is also a former Jungle Fight champion.
