Expectations are high for five-star incoming Kansas freshman Tyran Stokes, and Jayhawks head coach Bill Self has done little to quell the notion that Stokes could take over college basketball next season.
In an interview with CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Self compared the impact Stokes might have to a legendary name in college hoops annals.

“I think we’ll have the most talented player on the floor basically every night we play. That’s fairly undeniable in Tyran. We got pieces around him, but we’re unproven. Can Keanu Dawes be a 14-and-8 guy? Can Tyran do something like Melo did with Syracuse?” Self wondered out loud.
Anthony won a national championship in his only season at Syracuse in 2002-2003, which would be a major accomplishment for Stokes if he can pull off a one-and-done title with the Jayhawks. Ironically, Anthony’s Syracuse team beat Kansas in that title game.
