As the WNBA celebrates its 30th season, the league once again downplayed Caitlin Clark‘s impact by excluding her from its 30th-anniversary poster.
While the poster features some of the league’s brightest and most popular stars, the exclusion of Clark is deafening and is another example of the league ignoring and failing to capitalize on one of the most marketable stars in its history.
Since the former Hawkeye’s 2024 WNBA debut, Clark has catapulted TV ratings, brought millions of new eyeballs to the sport, set numerous league records and influenced the latest media rights deal and new collective bargaining agreement.

To list just a few WNBA accomplishments, Clark was the 2024 Rookie of the Year, is a two-time All-Star, is the WNBA’s single-season record holder for assists and the fastest WNBA player with 100 3-pointers made in a season. Yet all those achievements can’t get Clark on a poster meant to highlight the greatness of WNBA players past and present?
Additionally, only 20 players are depicted on the poster. Legendary and game-changing icons of women’s basketball, such as Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, Swin Cash, Tamika Catchings, Candace Parker, Elena Delle Donne, Cynthia Cooper, Maya Moore, and Sylvia Fowles, are also excluded from the picture. Including Clark and those players just listed, that would bear 30 names: 30 years for 30 players.
While this whole ordeal could very well be just another overblown reaction to a $30 peice of promotional material that could easily be (and likely has already) been printed and distributed for a fraction of the cost, the WNBA once again chose to alienate one of its largest fan bases and is rightfully getting dunked on by the millions.
